usually i'll cut before the "shoulder" and i don't seal it. Also, because most arborist have advised against sealing. Natural healing seems better. what do you think?

Why Unsealed is Better (CODIT)
Trees do not "heal" damaged tissue the way humans do; instead, they compartmentalise it. This process is called CODIT (Compartmentalization of Decay in Trees).
  • The Trap Effect: Putting a artificial seal over a fresh cut traps moisture and microscopic fungal spores inside the wood. This creates a warm, dark, humid greenhouse environment that accelerates wood rot right into the trunk.
